ISO Class 1: WWC28 certified by Fraunhofer IPA

On 30 September 2026 Fraunhofer IPA issued a cleanroom suitability certificate for our dust-free cable carrier WWC.28.65 in white: assessed to ISO 14644-14, it is rated ISO Class 1 at all three operating points.
Report No. ZH 2608-1800, first issued 30 September 2026, valid for five years until 30 September 2031.
What the certificate actually is
Fraunhofer IPA is one of the Fraunhofer institutes, based in Stuttgart, and cleanroom technology is its home ground. This Cleanroom Suitability certificate is not a supplier self-declaration: the institute tested the physical sample we sent and issued a third-party verdict.
The test scope is stated precisely on the certificate: Single product Particle Emission in Cleanroom (atmospheric) — the particle emission of a single product while running in an atmospheric cleanroom. In plain terms, how many particles one cable carrier puts into the surrounding air when it moves.
Three operating points, all Class 1
Test conditions: 22 °C ± 0.5 °C, relative humidity 45 % ± 5 %, atmospheric pressure.
| Travel speed vf | Acceleration ae | Applicable cleanliness class |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 m/s | 1.0 m/s² | Class 1 |
| 1.0 m/s | 2.0 m/s² | Class 1 |
| 2.0 m/s | 4.0 m/s² | Class 1 |
| Overall result | — | Class 1 |
ISO 14644-1 defines nine cleanliness classes, Class 1 to Class 9, and the lower the number the cleaner the air. Class 1 is the strictest. The legacy Class 100 you still see on drawings corresponds roughly to ISO Class 5, four orders of magnitude away from Class 1. In other words, the particles this carrier releases while running are low enough for the most demanding cleanroom class in use.
The sample we submitted was WWC28 (28 mm inner height, 65 mm inner width) — not the smallest micro size in our cleanroom range. Mechanically, a larger cross-section means more chain links and contact surfaces in motion, which makes particle control harder. We chose the hardest one to test; that was deliberate.
What customers can do with it
- Quote it directly in audits and tenders: report No. ZH 2608-1800, verifiable by your own team at www.tested-device.com, printed on the certificate.
- One less verbal explanation: the cable carrier used to be justified with "our material is cleanroom-grade, low particle emission". Now there is third-party data behind it.
- Long enough validity: valid until 30 September 2031, which covers delivery and acceptance cycles of most equipment projects.
Where the certificate stops
The scope is fixed, and we quote it as written:
- It applies only to WWC.28.65, white, in its original state. Other inner heights, inner widths or colours are not covered and would need a separate sample test.
- It measures particle emission of a single product. It is not a machine-level certification, and it does not mean a customer's line is cleanroom-compliant; cleanroom compliance is a system question covering airflow, air showers and personnel flow.
- Transport damage, incorrect installation and ageing can all affect real-world performance — this note is printed on the certificate itself.
- The certificate states the conclusion only. Detailed test-environment parameters are in the IPA test report; contact us if your audit needs the full report.
